Free Advice

I once heard that there are 3 times in life when people feel the need to give free advice.
When you graduate.
When you get married.
When you have a baby.

Family, close friends, and even random strangers don't hesitate to give their 2 cents when it comes to these three life events.  Needless to say, Katy and I have received plenty of advice in the last 9 months. It has been much appreciated as people are trying to give helpful hints of what to do or what not to do.  Oddly enough much of it is conflicting.

Some will say that putting a baby on a schedule is the only way to go.  Others laugh at that and say that we should only feed when he is hungry and let him wake and sleep naturally.  A few advise trying it all and stick with what works.  There is the whole breastfeeding, bottle feeding, formula feeding conversation as well as the to pacify or not to pacify dilema.

How can one of these have worked for one family while the opposite worked for another family?  How can one family swear by one method and detest another method.  Its as if these methods of feeding a baby are tied to their political and religious beliefs!

I chuckle at this now but know that I will soon become the same way.  I suppose one way isn't better than the other.  It's finding out what works best for our personalities and our son's well being.   We will try different methods until we find what works for us, swear by it and then freely share it with every pregnant family that we see.  :)
