Overall, I'm really excited about it. I've been having trouble off and on for about 7 years so hopefully this will get rid of some pain and discomfort. I'd be fibbing if I said I wasn't nervous. Any type of surgery has risk, especially when they use anesthesia and laparoscopic robots. All types of negative "what ifs" try to creep in my mind but I do my best to keep them out. Instead, I keep telling myself what Katy and I read to Beau every night before bed,
"Be STRONG and COURAGEOUS! Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. For the LORD your GOD is with you WHEREVER you go!" -Joshua 1:9I don't consider myself a negative person but I do often ask myself, 'What is the worst case scenario?' Obviously in this case it would be that I wouldn't make it out of surgery. I know. I know. It's just a routine gallbladder surgery. Just hear me out.
Even when my mind goes to that extreme I ask myself if I would have any regrets. Although there may be a few things in my past that I'm not super proud of, I can rest in the confidence of at least 4 things:
1. I was able to Love my wife to the best of my ability and wake up daily and keep her best interest in mind for over 5 years.
2. Even if for only 6 months, I did everything in my power to raise my Son Beau with the Love of Jesus and fully enjoy each moment that we were together.
3. I used my gifts, talents, and abilities to enrich the lives of others through teaching, encouragement, discipleship, and love.
4. I did each of these things not for fame or fortune, but to the Glory of God to further His Kingdom.
Of course there are other things I hope to be able to experience and accomplish in life but you can't dwell on the things you haven't had the opportunity to do. But, I am confident that I have done well with each opportunity that I have been given, which is a really good and peaceful feeling.
Are you doing the best that you know how to do? If so, I challenge you to learn more so you can do even better!
